Year 5 and 6 came together today to party, dance and play games in an end of year celebration. Everyone joined in and had an amazing Christmas party.

Children from years 3-6 have had the opportunity to be part of the school choir. The pupils have shown real commitment by dedicating one lunch time a week to practise songs in their own time. Each Wednesday, the children have shown up full of smiles and raring to go....

Last week, the Rotary Club kindly gifted us a visit from a magician. As you can see from the pictures, the children (and staff) had a great time. A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Birtley for this wonderful gift!

Year 5 had a wonderful afternoon at Northumbria University. We learned about how scientists use ice cores from the Antarctic to find out about the past. We listened to a poem by Katrina Porteous and then used what we had learned to write our own sense poem.

In Year 5, we have been learning about bridges in our design technology unit. We have looked at different types of bridges and explored ways bridges can be strengthened. We then used our knowledge to design and make our own bridges.
