On behalf of all the staff, the children and Governors, I would like to warmly welcome you to Barley Mow Primary School. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful school building, which is fully accessible to all.
At Barley Mow we aim to create a happy, caring and supportive ethos in which every child is valued and given the opportunity to realise their full potential. We have high academic, social, sporting, cultural and behavioural standards and we are extremely proud of the achievements of our children.
Children are at the centre of everything we do. We aim to foster a love of learning which we hope will stay with them throughout their lives.
The family community of Barley Mow is central to our beliefs. Families and the wider community play a vital role as co-educators and we encourage close links between home and school.

Painted Portraits
Year 4 have today finished their classmate portraits in the style of Sonia Delaunay.They added their colourful, floral backgrounds and final details. They’ve all done a wonderful job!

Year 5 have been learning about rivers in our geography lessons. This week we have been finding out the different ways rivers are important, for example they are habitats for animals and can be used for transport. We made moving wheels to show lots of different ways...
Personal Bests!
Today in PE Year 5 had Chris the coach. They took part in some activities which challenged them to try and beat their scores. It was hard work, especially the long jump to try and get further than their best jump but lots of children managed it.
Athletics Festival 2023
We had a great time on Friday at the Gateshead Athletics Festival. 49 schools from across Gateshead came to compete at the stadium. There were events such as sprint, hurdles, relay races and long jump. It was a very long day but the children competing persevered and...
