Today Year 3 investigated shadows. We drew around our shadows on the playground at 9.30am, 12.00pm and 2.15pm. Before each session, we predicted what they would look like and afterwards we discussed our results. We learned that the length, width and position of the shadow depended on where the sun was in the sky. The shortest shadow was at midday when the sun was high in the sky. It was fun to see how they changed over time.
In the classroom, we used torches to change the position and size of shadows. Our challenge was then to help Ariana Grande create the longest shadows for her stage show by telling her where to position the lights
