Year 4 had a fantastic time visiting Hamsterley Forest to study Bedburn Beck. They worked in groups to complete a range of activities to study the river. They worked together with their guide, Hannah, to measure the depth and profile of the river. Year 4 were able to practice their measuring skills and noticed that the centre of the river is the deepest point, getting shallower the closer you get to the river bank. The children were able to make field sketches of the river, noticing key formations and features. It was great fun using the natural materials to create river models!
