In art Year 2 have been looking at the work of the French artist Henri Rousseau. We have focused on his world famous painting ‘Surprise, Tiger in a Tropical Storm’. We began by discussing what we saw in the painting and how it made us feel. We also found out facts about his life and discovered that despite his many painting of jungles he never actually left France or even saw a jungle. Instead, he took inspiration from the botanical gardens in Paris where he spent hours drawing the plants and flowers there.
Like Rousseau, we decided to take inspiration from our school grounds and took our sketchbooks and pencils and drew lots of different leaves and plants. We tried hard to draw the different shapes carefully.
Well done everyone!
