As part of their history topic, the children in Year 6 visited Beamish Museum to develop their understanding of how people lived during the Victorian Era.
During the visit, the children took part in a Victorian lesson and learnt about calculating money involving pounds, shillings and pence. They were shocked to discover that children would leave school at 11 to find jobs in the local area.
In preparation for learning about the changes in Britain during the Industrial Revolution, the children took a ride on a steam engine and listened eagerly to a talk about how the engine worked.
