Reception have been very busy this spring term. We started by reading Jack and the Beanstalk and followed the story by looking at the life cycle of a bean and what it would need to grow, before planting and growing our very own beanstalks. We also made beanstalks out of long tube holders by connecting them together with string and painting them green. Reception have also started looking at measurement and used the vocabulary tallest or shortest to describe our friends when we had fun measuring ourselves. This week especially we enjoyed baking cakes as a class and observed and discussed the change in our ingredients, when they were all mixed together and after they were baked. Reception have also loved our Farm shop in the classroom, where we have made shopping lists to buy our flowers, fruit and vegetables. We also looked at the artist Vincent Van Gogh’s painting ‘Sunflowers’ from 1888, before creating our own sunflower masterpieces. Most of all Reception have loved being able to get outside more this term, with the weather changing and went on spring hunts to notice the change in the season and what spring brings.
