Over the past couple of weeks Reception have been learning all about Space. We have had a lot of fun learning about all the planets in our solar system and learning about the role of the sun and the moon. The children became astronauts in our class Space Station and used junk modelling to make rockets and moon buggies. We looked at Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘Starry night’ and it inspired us to create our own representation. We used foil and mixed colours to create different shades. We explored the mass of different moon rocks and used the scales to find out which ones were heavy and light. The children loved making their own moon rocks with the play dough and outside in the sand.
