Can people with longer legs jump further?

In Science, Year 3 have been learning about bones, muscles and how our body moves. We posed the question, “Can people with longer legs jump further?” and planned an investigation to find the answer. We made predictions before carrying out our tests. First we measured each person’s leg from hip to floor. (We learnt that the people with the longest legs weren’t always the tallest.) In groups, each person then jumped from a standing position and we measured the distance that they had moved. After adding our results to a table and a scatter graph, we concluded that people with the longest legs do not necessarily jump the further.
