We have had an amazing day out at Beamish and found out so much about what life was like in the past. We started the day off with a toy workshop exploring old fashioned toys and comparing them to toys today. Then we visited the shops in the 1950s town and also looked at the old cinema. Year 1 had a lovely surprise visitor when Mrs Moons came to see us and showed us where she works now! After a quick play at the park, we enjoyed our packed lunches in the sunshine and then visited the shops in the old town. We were amazed at how different the grocers shop was to supermarkets today and loved seeing the old cars in the garage. Finally, we found out how different schools were in 1913 compared to our school. Our last treat of the day was sitting upstairs on the old fashioned bus for a full trip around the Beamish site. It has been a fantastic experience. The children were very well behaved and learned so much.
