In our RE topic this half term we have been learning about ‘Belonging’. The children have talked about belonging to a family and also belonging to different groups like school and various clubs they go to. We have also enjoyed finding out about baptism and how Christians use this ceremony to welcome a baby into God’s family. Deacon Linda Watkin came into school this morning to perform a mock baptism on a doll that we named Rory. We chose parents and godparents and watched as she made the sign of the cross with water from the font to show that the baby is special to God. We lit a baptismal candle and finished by singing ‘He’s got the whole world in his hands’ and ‘Shine, Jesus, Shine’.
