As part of their geography topic, Year 2 have been investigating the local area around our school.
First, they looked at maps and planned a route of areas to walk around and explore. Then they walked around the areas to look at the positive features in our neighbourhood and also thought about what we could do to help improve the area. When they returned to school, Year 2 had a discussion on what they would change and improve and how they could do it.
As a class, Year 2 decided that they would like to help improve littering by adding more rubbish and recycling bins in our streets or the park. To encourage people to use the bins, Year 2 set to work designing and creating colourful and eye-catching posters to grab attention and make keeping our area tidy feel like fun!
