Year 2 became art critics today and looked closely at the the world famous painting ‘Surprised by the French artist Henri Rousseau. The children took a walk around the painting and discussed in detail what they noticed and saw. First of all they noticed lots of different foliage and tree branches. They also spotted the lightning flashes and thought the tiger looked quite scared. They then discussed the colours used and recognised the range of different greens within the painting.
The children were then given the task of memorising as much of the painting that they could and had to draw the picture from memory. They certainly did a super job!

Everyone is looking forward to finding more out about this amazing painting and the life of Henri Rousseau.
