This week Nursery have been looking at the traditional tale ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We have been practising retelling the story using story spoons and taking on the role of different characters. Nursery have also been dressing up as either a pig or a wolf to reenact the story in the role play area: we loved saying repeated phrases such as “Little pig, little pig let me in” and “not by the hair in my chiny chin chin”. We discovered that all our traditional tales start with ‘once upon a time’, we have been starting our stories with this. We have been working hard in the role play exploring how to create the colour pink by mixing white and red together. Then we started painting with different materials such as sticks, bricks and straw (pasta). We were amazed by the different textures which these materials created! In the tuff tray we were building our own house using blocks, pasta, pipe cleaners, cotton buds, lolly sticks and used marshmallows as connecters. Nursery also explored different materials which might withstand a huff and puff from the Big Bad Wolf, we practiced blowing the items and sorting them into groups of which items you can blow and which ones you can not. We worked hard in our maths area to peg the correct number of pegs onto a pig face. This was really tricky and worked our finger muscles! Nursery have worked extremely hard in small group this week learning about different emotions, we introduced some emotions by watching a clip from Inside Out. We then looked at pictures taken from our story The Three Little Pigs and identified how the characters were feeling. We loved showing what these emotions looked like on our faces. Fantastic work this week Nursery!
