This half term, the children in Year 6 are reading the book, ‘Varmints’ by Helen Ward and Marc Craste. They will be writing a descriptive narrative using the book as a stimulus focusing on atmosphere.
To support this writing, the children have been identifying how atmosphere is created using the short film version of the story.
The children have created adverbial phrases to describe how sounds have created a tranquil atmosphere at the beginning of the story. They enjoyed rolling a dice to decide which type of phrase to add to their identified sound.
