This week for history, reception compares old toys from the past and toys from the present. We listened to a story called ‘The old toy room’, in the story a young girl enjoyed playing with toys from the past rather than the present. The children looked at some toys from the past and explored how they worked, which ones they thought were the oldest and compared them to the toys we play with today. We talked about how they were different, what they were made of and how they were used. We also looked at a photo of a Victorian school and talked about what was the same and what was different when we compared it to our school setting. The children had a lot of fun playing with old toys from the past!
