In Year 6, the children have been learning about fractions this week.
First of all, they used a fraction wall to identify equivalent fractions visually before creating equivalent fractions using multiplication. Then, they simplified equivalent fractions by finding common factors.
Later in the week, the children were ordering and comparing fractions. Initially, they used bar models to support their understanding and then they moved onto finding common denominators to compare different fractions. The children used the knowledge they had developed to solve reasoning questions involving fractions.
