In year 3 we have been learning how branching keys help to classify objects. To begin with, we learned that branching keys ask questions that can be answered either yes or no. We looked at the contents of a bag of Liquorice Allsorts and thought of questions we could ask that had a yes or no answer.
Next we chose 4 of the sweets and learned how to set out a branching key to identify the different Liquorice Allsorts.
Once we understood how branching keys work, we were able to use one to classify a group of rocks we were given.
