Black History Month is celebrated in the UK every October. Each week, in assembly, the children have been learning about significant Black people and the outstanding contributions they have made to society in Britain and worldwide. It has also been a time of reflection of inequalities that people experienced and the changes they fought to benefit future generations.
This year the theme was ‘ Saluting Our Sisters’. The aim is to celebrate the amazing achievements of Black women throughout history. Across school, we looked at a range of inspiring women from various fields including sport, literature and arts, medicine, entertainers, activists and many more.
The legacy of these woman will continue to be remembered. Their determination, resilience, bravery, beliefs and dreams are all certainly an inspiration for everyone!
