This week year 2 were given the challenge to wash and clean a toy animal so they could try to work out the steps to wash a mammoth. First, they filled a bowl of water and added bubbles. Then they scrubbed and rubbed the animals so it was lovely and clean. They even washed behind the ears and tried hard not to get soap in their eyes! Finally they patted and dried the animal with a fluffy towel.
The children then read their new book ‘ How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth’ which was filled with clear and precise instructions. They also spotted lots of verbs and have tried hard to retell each step to friends.
Next week year 2 will explore more instruction texts to spot other features.
