Today, Year 4 had a fantastic day of fun and learning with Richard, ‘ That History Bloke’!
We learnt all about how to greet each other in Ancient Egyptian, all about the role of the Pharaoh and what each part of their clothes symbolised. We learnt all about the process of mummification, why each organ was kept and their beliefs about the afterlife. We also had a go at wrapping our partner in bandages and made sure we included amulets for protection and left no gaps for insects to get in!
We discovered how a very clever French man 200 years ago translated the Rosetta Stone to allow us to read Egyptian hieroglyphics and had a go at writing our names with traditional ink and bamboo pens.
We even had time for a few games of ’Three Men’, the Egyptian (and better) version of noughts and crosses!
