Today, Year 4 had a class trip to the Great North Museum: Hancock.
We had a fantastic visit, got to see and interact with so many of the exhibits and took part in activities linked with both our science and history lessons!
We looked at lots of animals on display and made up food chains and webs and we got the chance to look at some teeth from a range of animals (including a real baby mammoth tooth!) and had to decide if they were from a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore. We thought about where in the mouth this tooth would be found and whether it was an incisor, canine, premolar or molar tooth. We were able to talk about them so confidently because we had remembered so much from our science lessons!

In the afternoon, we had a workshop to look in more detail at lots of replica Ancient Egyptian artefacts. We looked at items that would have been used by the Pharaoh, a priest, a scribe, a farmer and an embalmer- all very important jobs in Egypt at the time!

We also were given a special treat and got to see a 3D scan the mummified body of Bakt-en Hor, who’s sarcophagus has never been opened! It was all so interesting and we shared lots of our own knowledge as well as picking up lots of new facts!
