The children in Nursery and Reception have been learning about ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and the lifecycle of a butterfly. We have used natural resources to represent the lifecycle showing the egg, caterpillar, cocoon and butterfly. We have sequenced the story and discussed the events which happen to the caterpillar each day. We used potatoes to print with paint in the shape of the hungry caterpillar. The children used the hands to represent numbers and find the answer to subtraction calculations. The children have been enjoying the lovely weather outdoors so lots of our learning has been outside. We have been using our mud kitchen to create potions and perfume as well as cooking up some muddy treats. We have been exploring the water by scooping and pouring and painting large boxes with our own designs. We had lots of fun using our muscles to move the parachute up and down with our friends.
