The children in Nursery and Reception have been learning all about the King and his upcoming coronation. The children have been creating crowns using their fine motor skills when cutting. They decorated them with jewels to make them look even more royal. We also painted our own Union Jack flags to wave in celebration. Both Nursery and Reception had the chance to act out their own coronation. We picked a king or queen and waved our flags saying “God save the King” or “God save the Queen.” The Reception children practised their reading and writing. The children used an image of the king to help them write a sentence or words. The Nursery children used their counting skills when matching the amount shown on each crown. Both classes enjoyed their coronation lunch with a special selection of food. We then decorated our own royal biscuits to have during golden time. What a lovely week we have had!
