Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic day out as part of our geography work on local landmarks and our history work on castles. We loved visiting the Angel of the North which is celebrating its 25th birthday and also spotting local North East landmarks such as the Tyne bridge, Millenium bridge, the river Tyne, the Sage and the Baltic as our bus drove into Newcastle.

We had a fantastic time exploring Newcastle Keep which is now 845 years old. We enjoyed seeing the dungeons where some children and Mrs Mounsey were put in the stocks and exploring the rooms in the Great Hall. We loved the views from the top of the tower after a long climb up the spiral staircase. We could see for miles!

Finally we had our castles and courts workshop where we found out about the roles of people who worked in the castle and role-played a feast with the king, queen, jesters, musicians, food taster, guards and lords and ladies. It was lots of fun and we learned a lot.
