This afternoon Years 1 to 5 took part in a special “Be cool getting to school assembly.”
Don and Gillian from Living Streets came into school and did a quick survey to see how we currently get to school. We discussed all the positive reasons to either walk, cycle or scoot to school including: good exercise, it’s safer and that it will help to cut pollution.
All of the local Birtley schools are taking part in this competition with 1st prize being a visit to the Komatsu factory and 2nd prize is a visit from a fire engine.
Strider the Living Streets mascot was on the yard at home time to help launch this initiative. How many of you are going to try and walk to school for the next 2 weeks?
