In science, Year 2 have been describing the importance for humans of exercise, eating the right amount of different foods and hygiene. This week we talked about protecting ourselves from germs and why we need to wash our hands with soap. We carried out an experiment to see how soap works. We used pepper to represent germs and we were amazed at the results. We dipped our finger into water without soap and the germs very easily stuck to our hands. We then repeated this with soap on our hands and watched the germs move away from the soap. The soap acted like a shield – it was fascinating to see!

We all agreed the importance of washing our hands to help stop germs spreading and help look after ourselves and others.
