Year 4 have started to look at measuring area.
To begin with, they looked at how they could cover a rectangle of paper with post-it’s. We discussed the correct, most efficient way to do this, covering all the white and not overlapping the post-its or edges.


Then, we looked at how we could use the same post-its to create some other shapes. We talked about how at least one edge of the post-its would need to be touching for it to be a rectilinear shape. We noticed that we thought we had made even more shapes, but if we rotated them, they were the same.
