Year 1 have been learning about the importance of washing our hands to remove any germs which might make us ill and to prevent the spread of infection. We talked about when we should be washing our hands (especially after using the toilet and before eating).
We drew germs all over our balloon hands with washable marker and then tried washing the hands with water alone. We soon found out that we needed to use soap as well as water and that we needed to rub our hands to get the germs off.
We enjoyed singing along with the NHS hand washing song and learning the correct technique that we all need to use to wash our hands thoroughly.
1. Wet your hands with soap and water. 2. Rub your palms. 3.Rub your knuckles. 4.Rub the insides of your fingers. 5. Rub the back of your fingers against your palms. 6. Rub your thumbs. 7. Rub your nails. 8. Rinse your hands and dry them with a paper towel. 9. Put the paper towel in the bin.
