Year 3 learned that a pulley is a simple machine. Machines make jobs quicker and easier to do. Cranes use pulleys to lift heavy loads. A flagpole uses a pulley to raise and lower a flag. Very tall buildings use pulleys to move a window washer to reach windows that are too high for ladders.
We made a simple pulley to lift a weight. We agreed the weight was easier to lift when using a pulley.
