On Friday 21st September, Reception visited Birtley Fire Station. We travelled to the fire station by bus, we waited at the bus stop and then put our hand out for the bus to stop. Next, we got a ticket and found a seat. Finally, we arrived at the fire station. The firefighters showed us the pole they slide down when they get a call. Next we looked at the fire engine and each had a go at sitting inside it and putting on the firefighters helmet. After that, we went outside and got to use the hose, it was very powerful and the water sprayed everywhere! We looked at all the different equipment the firefighters may use when they are putting out a fire or saving someone’s life. Then we looked at the firefighter’s uniform and how it protects them. We had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you to all the parent helpers who came along with us.
