Year 3 have been looking at Roman sculptures. Roman people were interested in making statues that really looked like that person. We looked at sculptures of some of the leader in the Roman army and noticed how fierce their expressions were. Making our meanest faces, we looked in a mirror to se how our faces changed. We noticed changes particularly around our eyes and mouths. We carefully drew self-portraits and then used our drawings to make a sculpture. We tried hard to create the fierce Roman style by rolling and shaping the clay. It was great fun and we think the Romans would be very impressed with our final works of art!
