This week Year 4 have been learning how to read a map using four figure grid references and keys to locate places in our area. We had to read the coordinates correctly in order to find the correct position of places and local landmarks. One of our jobs was to look closely at the two rivers on the map (the River Tyne and the River Derwent). We tracked the different course of each river and compared the size and difference in bends. Next we looked at the source and mouth of each river and discussed the number of bridges along the Tyne. As you can see lots of Geography skills were certainly developed in this session.
