As part of our WW2 topic Nick the chef came into school to help us understand what rationing was and why it was introduced in Britain during this significant time in history.

Our task was to make some carrot curry and carrot cookies with very basic ingredients which would have been available during the war. We had great fun chopping, cutting, peeling, grating and mixing the ingredients while he explained the types of foods and recipes people would prepare during this time.

We  were shocked with the little amount of basic foods families had to survive on week to week and understood  why most families grew their own food.

Look at our photos to see what we got up to!
