As part of our instructions unit in English, Year 4 had to follow a set of instructions to make a poppy. They tested how effective the instructions were. They all agreed number steps were useful along with the pictures to match each step but also discovered that the instructions were not always accurate enough for the reader to follow. As a result mistakes were made and many had to correct a step in order to make a perfect poppy.
Their job is now to write a clear set of instructions for others to follow using all the features of an instructional text.
