Last week as part of science Year 2 carried out an investigation to find out the most suitable material to make a boat.
Our challenge was to make a boat which we could put a feather in and leave it to float for an afternoon. If we were successful the feather would still be dry at the end of the day.
We gathered together some plastic, tin foil, paper, felt, cardboard and cotton wool. We tested these materials to find out which one was the most waterproof. We then decided which material to make our boats out of.
We made our boats out of our chosen material and then put a feather in the boat before leaving it to float in a bowl of water for the afternoon.
Can you guess which material was the most waterproof?
