This week, we stepped back in time during an educational visit to Tudor Tyneside (Newcastle).

An extremely knowledgeable Tudor named Richard, who looked remarkably like Henry VIII, welcomed us in a traditional Tudor manner and taught us how to curtsey and bow correctly. He then treat us to a tour of the Quayside, which helped us experience and imagine the sights, sounds and smells (ugh!) of Tudor times.

After our walk, we returned to the historical Bettie Surtees House and explored some mystery Tudor artefacts. We carefully inspected the objects and guessed their purpose before Richard kindly revealed their functions, some of which made our stomachs churn!

To lift our spirits, Richard invited us to amuse ourselves by playing with some Tudor toys and games. Finally, he entertained us with the sounds of his lyre and wished us a ‘God be with you’ farewell.
