St Mary’s Heritage Centre

St Mary’s Heritage Centre We were lucky enough to visit St Mary’s Heritage Centre, Gateshead, to help us learn even more about the Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead. Simon, who works there, showed us lots of artefacts and took us to Betty Surtees’ house. It is one of the only surviving houses from the fire. It helped us see exactly where the fire happened and we now know how close it was to where we live! After we visited the Heritage Centre we went to the Baltic to see some very interesting artwork, and then we also got to see the Millennium Bridge!
