We are pleased to announce that we have been successful in our application for an ‘Awards for All’ lottery grant. The title of our project is “Learning from, and sharing with, our neighbours”. The aim of this is to develop a community-wide project where our children visit other groups to learn from them and for our pupils to learn and contribute what they can offer. Knowing our community, being part of it and making a positive contribution to it is a very important aspect of our whole school ethos. This project will help us to build on the community links we have and ensure our children and their families feel part of a strong and safe community. Pupils will visit and work with Shadon House Dementia Care Home, Barley Mow Youth Group and Community Centre over the next 6 months and also host reciprocal visits to our school. Currently Year 6 pupils are involved in an Arts project with Shadon House and we have already had a resident come into school to work with a supervised group of children.
