As part of National Poetry Day, Year 6 have been studying the poem The Night Mail by W.H. Auden. We looked at the poetic devices in the poem then worked as a group to learn a section of the poem. It was challenging to keep the rhythm and speed of the poem as well as using expression and speaking clearly but everyone was extremely resilient and worked hard as a team. Our link governor, Linda Watkin, was extremely impressed with the attitudes of the children and quality of discussion when she visited our classroom as part of her learning walk. We are looking forward to performing our poem in front of Year 6!
