During our visit from the Fire Service, one of our boys got dressed up as a fire fighter. He could hardly keep his head up because the helmet was so heavy. Wearing the breathing apparatus which the fire fighters wear was difficult too, as he had a full face mask on and an oxygen tank on his back!
We found out a lot about how quickly fire spreads and about the dangers posed to the fire brigade and the public whenever there is a call-out, even a hoax one. Exploring the impact that a hoax call could have on our community helped the children to think carefully about the implications of starting fires.
